The Institute for European Union Studies at SUNY (IEUSS) is seeking Expressions of Interest from SUNY campuses to host the SUNY Model European Union (SUNYMEU) 2024 and to coordinate SUNYMEU 2025, which will take place at the SUNY Global Center in New York City. SUNYMEU is a simulation of the European Council of the European Union. It takes place on a Thursday-Saturday. Undergraduate and graduate students participate from universities located in Canada, Europe, and the U.S.
The IEUSS is a SUNY-wide institute affiliated with the SUNY Office of Global Affairs.

Who can host SUNYMEU 2024?
Any of SUNY’s campuses may apply to the Institute for European Union Studies at SUNY to host SUNYMEU.
When will SUNYMEU 2024 & 2025 take place?
Dates: Late March - early April
(scheduling considers the Midwest PSA Conference, Passover, and Easter).
Who can serve as SUNYMEU Director?
A full-time member of faculty or professional staff at a SUNY campus may serve as SUNYMEU Director. The Director will be appointed by the IEUSS board for a two-year term. The SUNYMEU Director’s campus will be responsible for hosting SUNYMEU 2024 and to coordinate all aspects of SUNYMEU 2025 at the SUNY Global Center in New York City. Keeping in mind that the IEUSS is the body that reports to the SUNY Office of Global Affairs and that SUNYMEU is an IEUSS program, the SUNYMEU Director will work closely with the IEUSS board chair and IEUSS director.
How does my campus apply to host SUNYMEU 2024 and coordinate SUNYMEU 2025?
1. The individual applying should be the individual who will be SUNYMEU Director during 2024 & 2025. (If proposing co-directors, these individuals should be named and involved in all aspects of the application process.)

What happens after my campus submits the Expression of Interest form?
The IEUSS Board will review the Expressions of Intent and direct the IEUSS Board Chair to proceed to the next step (invitation to submit a proposal). Should the campus representative be invited to proceed with a proposal, the campus should prepare a proposal using this template: Proposal to Host SUNYMEU.

Who decides whether my campus will host and coordinate SUNYMEU 2024 & 2025?
This is a decision taken the by the IEUSS board. The IEUSS Board will evaluate proposals based on the items included in the Proposal to Host SUNYMEU. A standard evaluation sheet is filled out (1-3) for each item by each IEUSS Board member and discussed by the IEUSS Board meeting as a whole.
